Resource: Why Dystopia?

Friend of the Institute Chelsea Kingston Erikson, a youth pastor in Hamilton, MA, penned a wonderful discussion this week of why young adult fiction over the past decade has become obsessed with bleak stories of oppression and revolution. Not only does she give analysis of this phenomenon, but offers reflections of the alternate story the gospel tells. The format and clarity of these talking points would make for an excellent small group discussion, especially for students just getting into series such as The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, The Giver, or Divergent.
